THIRD MEHL
O man you have been tormented by a nightmare and you have passed your life in sleep.
You did not wake to hear the Word of the True Guru´s Shabad;
you have no inspiration within yourself.
That body burns which has no virtue and which does not serve the Guru.
I have seen that the world is burning in egotism and the love of duality.
O Nanak those who seek the Guru´s Sanctuary are saved;
within their minds they meditate on the True Word of the Shabad.

Hey everyone, I thought I´d start off our first blog post with the Hukamnama(Royal Order) from Sri Darbar Sahib for today. I want to talk about the idea of remembering Guru Sahib and asking for his blessings before undertaking any task; just because it´s the first thing that popped into my head. But before I begin to post regularly I just want to give everyone whatever insight I can about what this blog is going to be about.
As Sikhs, our Guru Sahib´s Hukam(Order) is of utmost importance. Time and time again, Guru Ji talks about how our Minds are polluted with worldly thoughts and how we have to struggle to enshrine the Truth - Sach and become immersed in Naam. For this reason, I´m going to try my hardest to use Gurbani quotes with everything I say. I want to avoid passing on my own Mat (Manmat) and instead propagate the Guru´s Way, Gurmat.
This blog is, by no means, my - or anyone else´s property. This Blog is yours, the Sangat´s. The Sangat can hold me accountable for anything I say wrong or out of line with Gurmat. I definitely don´t have a vast knowledge on Sikhi, nor am I some sort of scholar or expert. I just have a lot of time on my hands and a thirst for knowledge which is the only reason the SSS committee has given me this privilege. I´m going to talk about Gurmat concepts, and issues I have in my head and discuss what I think Guru Sahib says about it with you. I definitely need everyone´s help though; I need you guys to ask questions, tell me what you like or don´t like, give me suggestions and all that good stuff. As you´ll discover soon enough, I don´t have all the answers, but I think together through discussion and Gurbaanee we can work towards one.
